The "Week to Wicked" project transformed a 1972 Chevy C10 pickup into a high-performance restomod over five days. This collaboration between Classic Trucks Magazine and Classic Performance Products (CPP) aimed to showcase the capabilities of CPP's components in a rapid build setting.
Project Overview:
- Base Vehicle: A 1972 Chevy C10 short-bed truck, provided by LMC Truck, underwent a complete restoration, including rust repair and replacement of body panels, before the performance upgrades began.
- Powertrain: The truck was equipped with a 502ci big-block V8 Connect & Cruise package from Gandrud Performance Parts, paired with a 4L85E automatic transmission.
- Chassis and Suspension: CPP supplied a comprehensive chassis upgrade, featuring their Deluxe Chassis Kit, which included tubular control arms, drop spindles, sway bars, and a C-notch kit. The suspension was enhanced with dual-adjustable coil-over shocks for improved handling.
- Braking System: A CPP 13-inch front and 12-inch rear big brake kit was installed, complemented by CPP’s Hydrastop Street Beast hydraulic assist system for superior stopping power.
- Steering: Upgrades included CPP’s 500 Series power steering box, a collapsible steering shaft, and a tilt steering column for enhanced drivability.
- Interior and Electronics: The interior featured Dakota Digital gauges, an Old Air A/C system, and a wood bed floor. An E-Stopp electric parking brake system was also integrated.
- Final Touches: The build concluded with the installation of United Pacific exterior lighting, Falken tires, and a custom exhaust system.
The completed truck was showcased at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas and later given away to a lucky winner at the 2019 C10 Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway.
