Hey everyone — I wanted to drop a quick post about the CPP Part #2700 Disc Component Kit, 11″ Rotors, 5x4.75.
What is it?
The 2700 kit is a complete front-end disc brake component set designed for 1955–1964 full-size Chevy cars that still use the OEM drum-spindle setup. It bolts directly onto the factory spindles (or compatible upgrades like CP30109, CP30113, CP30101), transforming drum-brake front ends into a disc-brake setup — without the headache of custom wiring, adapters or fender clearance issues.
What’s Included
- Two 11″ vented rotors (plain surface) — left and right side.
- A pair of cast-iron “Big Bore” front calipers (pre-loaded).
- Rubber front brake hose (16″ length, 10 mm Banjo / 3/8-24 fitting).
- Bearings and seals to complete the install without needing extras.
- Dust-cap hardware, grease seals, and all necessary components to get your front brakes upgraded and street-ready.
What Makes It a Great Upgrade
- Easy bolt-on fitment — ideal for ’55–’64 Chevy full-sizers using OEM drum spindles or compatible CPP spindle upgrades. Saves considerable time over fully custom disc conversions.
- Improved braking performance & safety — disc brakes give better stopping power, better heat dissipation than drums, and improved overall reliability — a big plus especially if you daily-drive or tow your classic.
- All-in-one kit — CPP bundled everything: calipers, rotors, hoses, bearings — so you don’t need to source parts separately. Less hassle, fewer compatibility headaches.
- Budget-friendly upgrade — for the performance you get it is a solid value compared to the cost and effort of custom disc setups or aftermarket spindle/rotation kits.
🛠 What You Should Know Before You Order
- The kit uses rubber brake hoses (not stainless lines) — fine for most street builds, but if you're after a fully “show/street/track” build or want maximum responsiveness, you might consider upgrading to stainless hoses later.
- Rotors are plain (non-slotted, non-drilled) — which is fine for street use and classic-car cruising, but if heat dissipation or track use is in your plans, a drilled/slotted upgrade option might make sense.
- As always, check rotor clearance with your wheel choice and make sure your spindles are the correct type (CP30109, CP30113, CP30101 or OEM drum for ’55–’64 Chevy full-size) before ordering.
My Thoughts — Good Match for Many Builds
Given CPP’s commitment to functional, user-friendly upgrades, the 2700 kit hits that sweet spot: minimal fuss, solid performance boost, and classic-compatible. For anyone doing a resto-mod or street build on a mid-’50s to early-’60s Chevy full-size — and wants reliable braking without going full custom — this kit is a no-brainer.
If I were doing a cruiser or mild street build on a ’59 Impala or ’62 Bel Air, I’d seriously consider this for peace of mind and better day-to-day driving feel.
