CPP500 with an electric power steering pump

Chevrolet C10 Truck Parts
Great question! While we haven’t officially tested a PWM-controlled electric power steering pump with our CPP 500 Series steering box, it’s absolutely possible to make it work with the right setup.

Our 500 Series boxes are designed to operate best at 1,100–1,200 psi and around 2.5–3.5 GPM of flow — specs that some electric power steering pumps can meet, depending on the model and how the PWM signal is tuned.

That said, electric pumps (especially those from vehicles like the Volvo C30, Astra, or MR2) are often used in restomod or EV conversions and can offer a clean, efficient solution if matched properly. The key is making sure the pump you choose can deliver enough flow and pressure, and that the control system (PWM module or standalone controller) is dialed in to provide consistent assist.

Since this hasn’t been tested in-house yet, we’d recommend confirming flow and pressure specs for the pump you’re considering and matching it to your steering needs — especially for heavier vehicles or performance use.

If you or your builder ends up trying it, we’d love to hear how it performs. We’re always looking at new tech that integrates well with our systems.
